Ignore the moaners – landlords and tenants DO get on well together

A new survey by buy-to-let lender Aldermore finds that 66% of private tenants have a positive relationship with their landlord, with 77% maintaining good communication. Only 13% reported negative experiences.

Nearly two-thirds (63%) of tenants say their landlord is easily reachable for issues, while 89% of landlords prioritize maintenance and repairs. More than a third (35%) of tenants with positive experiences say their landlord has proactively offered help, and 18% say their landlord has made thoughtful property improvements. Additionally, 35% of landlords allow cosmetic changes, and 34% permit pets.

Jon Cooper, Aldermore’s director of mortgages, emphasizes that good landlords create well-maintained homes and open communication, with many actively working to enhance renters’ living conditions. Despite occasional negative reports, the survey suggests that most tenants enjoy positive renting experiences.
